Jacqueline Kennedy Personally Owned and Worn Blouse Fabric
Own a piece of Jackie's gorgeous silk blouse! A .5” x .5” square section of cut fabric previously owned and worn by former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The piece was part of a blouse originally gifted to Mary Barelli Gallagher, personal secretary to the Kennedys, which sold at Hantman's 2003 sale entitled "President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis Personal Artifacts and Documents Auction”. Accompanied by a photocopy of the blouse’s original Certificate of Authenticity signed by Gallagher. Encapsulated by CAG to the overall size of 2.5" x 3.5". Exhibits slight fraying on 3 sides, else very good condition of material.
The blouse from which this swatch was taken demonstrates the former First Lady's impeccable taste for simple, elegant attire, thus affirming her status as a fashion icon. This rich cream silk shirt made in Florence, Italy captures the elegance and appeal of Jacqueline Kennedy’s clothing collection. Mary Barelli Gallagher (b. 1926) was Jacqueline Kennedy’s personal secretary for twelve years. Following the Kennedy family's time in the White House, Gallagher published the memoir My Life with Jacqueline Kennedy in 1969. This book would become instrumental to the American public being able to understand the real woman Jacqueline was behind the fame and tragedy.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
