SERIAL NUMBER 191093 BARREL 7 1/2" CALIBER .36 RIFLED MANUFACTURED 1866. One of Samuel Colt's most successful arms the 1851 Navy saw extensive use and popularity during the US Civil war. This Success continued after the war into the period of western expansion and into the Indian War's period due to its reliability and ease of supplying ammunition in non-forgiving surrounding were suttlers and dealers were not an option. Famous lawmen and gunmen such as Wild Bill Hickock favored the "51 Navy". Originally finished with blue and case colored finishes with roll engraved cylinder and varnished one piece grips. CONDITION. Good with all matching serial numbers. Proper operating action with all nipples and safety pins remaining intact. Fine varnished grips. The exterior of the revolver has toned to a dove grey with age and use. The wedge retaining screw has been lost over the years. The brass grip straps have toned to a mellow mustard patina.
