Philippines Archipelago, Igorot, or Kalinga 19th century headhunters axe with a typical long arched axe head, concave face with a long slender rear spike. The handle with a finely laid brass panels that feature stippling designs in random order for grip. Size 20 1/2" L, axe head 13 1/4" W

Igorot or mountaineer in English refers to a large group of multiple ethnic peoples in the mountain region of Northern Luzon. The headhunters or executioners axe is a sharp bladed weapon constructed of hammered steel and found use in carving wood or other daily activities in addition to its namesake.
