The double-sided stone seal, carved from black steatite and measuring 5.5 cm by 3 cm, features intricate depictions of a serpent and a warrior, typical of Mesopotamian iconography from the period of 2000 to 1600 BC.

This piece was part of the collection of H.L., an archaeologist who acquired it during excavations in Iraq in the 1960s. It entered a private Dutch collection in the late 1970s and has been with the current owner since 1999.
