Description
Needlework sampler: "Respectfully presented to Samuel Moore by his affectionate daughter Rachel Moore done in the 16th year of her age 1834". Central theme is a memorial stone with an urn on top, the stone is inscribed "My Mother". a woman leans against the memorial, her feet, arms, and head (bust) are all printed on paper, cut out , and applied. A willow tree (in relief) stands behind. This sampler comes with genealogical information about the Moore family. Rachel (1818-1909) was born in Staffordshire, England. Philadelphia, dated 1834. Frame: H 24-1/4" W 23". Sight: H 21-1/4" W 20". Condition: Professionally framed. Small 1/2" hole at top left of sampler. A few other very small holes, and some slight wear/fading.
