Yaacov Agam (Israel/France, b. 1928), Salune, Agamagram, 99/99, signed lower right and numbered 99/99 lower left, an optical illusion depicting an eclipse, with the sun and the moon visible from different angles, with 2008 purchase information on verso, matted and framed. Frame size: 25 3/4 in. x 25 1/2 in.Yaacov Agam is an Israeli artist best known for his pioneering of Kinetic Art. His lenticular prints, or Agamagrams, made illusory images appear depending on the audience?s viewpoint. Agam studied in Jerusalem, Z?rich, and Paris. While attending Z?rich?s Kunstgewerbe Schule, Agam studied under the renowned color theorist Johannes Itten, before moving to Paris in 1951. Agam has gone on to become the subject of retrospectives at the Mus?e National d?Art Moderne and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. His works are included in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, among others. (Artnet)
