German, late 19th Century. Lid with carved owlet and foliage, case is carved to resemble stone with foliage and another owlet. Owls have glass eyes. Some wear and edge damage. 9.5"h. 10.25"w. 6''d.

The smaller owl on the lid is missing the eye that is closer to the back of the box; the silk lining inside on the bottom is torn a bit at the upper edge.
