Chinese Ming Dynasty Jiajing Festival Blue Porcelain Gourd Vase. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, suspending a cylindrical neck, raised on short ring foot base and slightly concave. Warm and uniform blue glaze applied to the whole surface, only the upper mouth rim and outer bottom is white glazed. Blue is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. Blue stands for healing, trust and long life. Shades of blue are used to decorate homes for longevity and harmony.The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years Jiajing Reign Period of The Great Ming Dynasty.
