When it comes to trade signs, it does not get any better than this stained glass trade sign for S & S shoes. Schauder's Shoe store was located at 37 South Brown St. in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where it began business in 1890. Schauder and Schauder were also manufacturers and supplied shoes to the Lumberman and River workers of the area. A family run business handed down to many generations of Schauders, who operated the store well into the 1950s. This amazing trade sign of a 3-dimensional shoe is constructed with a bent iron frame and stain glass, clearly marked S&S. Made with a rainbow of colors, the trade sign is solid and extremely well made, with an overall eye-popping appeal. CONDITION: Some pieces have surface cracks, only seen on close inspection. There are no missing pieces, and no loose pieces noted. Any trade sign of this construction would be difficult to clean and it is likely to have hung in the foyer of the office and not outside. Put a light bulb inside the top, and watch the shoe come to life. First of its kind that we have seen.
