In order to accurately portray George Washington, Irving traveled to and from the Washingtons plantation home of Mount Vernon to garner studies for his work. This work was the final published work of Irvings life and was published in a total of five volumes.
While many biographies of George Washington exist, few, if any, are by as well-known of an author as Washington Irving. An important work of Americana.
