Inscribed and titled in the print. This exhibition showed a collection of color woodcut prints by artist Huang Kai. These prints depict the aimless and hectic lifestyle of children growing up in a now gone hutong community in the 1980s. In fact, Huang Kai himself grew up in a now demolished hutong neighborhood and most of the prints portray scenes from his own memories of childhood. Huang Kai is a Contemporary Chinese Taiwanese artist, graphic artist, preferred a line drawing illustration style popular in the early 20th century Chinese comic books to describe the social backdrop of the 80s, concentrating on his own story in his memory, the inclination of nostalgic narratives in modern mainland culture.
