George III Mahogany Display Cabinet. In two parts; the rectangular molded cornice above an astragal-glazed door opening to six shelves, the lower section with panelled cupboard door opening to a single shelf, raised on a bracket base. Accompanied by a copy of a letter with photograph of the cabinet, dated November 13, 1963, from Robert S. Pirie, Esq., Hamilton, Massachusetts, pertaining to an estimate for labor and material to line the cabinet. H: 84.25 in., W: 27.5 in., D: 11.75 in. Provenance: Arthur Stannard Vernay Inc., New York, New York. The antiques firm was established by Arthur Stannard Vernay (1877, Weymouth, England-1960, Nassau, Bahamas) in 1906 and specialized in English antiques. It also offered restoration and interior design services, including the installation of period panelled rooms. Vernay retired from the antiques business in 1941, leaving it in the care of three associates Stephen J.
