Description
century. Unsigned, arch top, restored fretwork, overlapping husk inlay plinths, painted iron dial with shields, moon phase, brass 8 day works, mahogany case with satinwood inlaid quarter columns, door with inlaid feather motif and floral and band inlays, base with oval urn inlay. Door with repair history dating to 1832. Ogee bracket feet with spur, original finish, weight driven, brass finials. The finely inlaid case is attributed to Elisha Cushing, Jr. of Hingham, Massachusetts. The dial was probably painted by Nolen & Curtis of Boston, MA. Descended through a Massachusetts family. 92 1/2" high, 19 1/4" wide, 9 3/4" deep.
