Collection of Dwight Blaney (1865-1944), thence by descent in family to the present owner.
Dwight Blaney, artist and important early collector of American decorative arts, was a founder of the exclusive collecting group, the Walpole Society. This caster was on loan to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for many years beginning in 1910.
Condition
lot 36: mild surface rubbing commensurate with age and use; the body with some minor shallow dings or dents, the rim with one impressed area; the lid with split along base rim; the interior bottom with some expected oxidation commensurate with age and use
