1887-1980), San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico, Circa 1950
decorated with an Avanyu (mythical horned water serpent)
6 1/2" diameter, 3 1/4" high

Following the death of Maria's husband Julian, their son Adam and his wife Santana helped Maria with the design and firing of her pottery. Pieces made between 1943 and 1954 are signed Maria + Santana
