Description
Welch, Spring & Co., Forestville, Conn., a D.J. Gale "12-in Gallery" hanging astronomical calendar clock in a rosewood veneered case with papered metal dial, spade hands, and eight day, double wind spring driven brass movement with lever escapement
Condition
the clock ticks; case in good condition overall and in an old finish, has a few small veneer chips, a repair and a few small blisters to the veneer, the door has a few small repairs at the door latch, the molding that surrounds the back edge of the case has age cracks, original paper dial has darkened and with some surface abrasion in spots, insect damage, and a stain on the edge, original hands. This is a very rare model and nice example, less common than the larger Gale astronomical gallery clock, circa 1873
