New York City Police Commissioner Douglas Imrie McKay (1883-1962) Ephemera, Awards & Personal Items, Including John F. Kennedy & Douglas MacArthur Signed Letters. Douglas I McKay Served as NYC Police Commissioner in 1914, best remembered for his efforts to fight widespread crime from New York City street gangs. First letter reads "Dear Mrs. McKay, I remember your husband well. We were great friends at West Point and I always regarded him with esteem and regard. I am sorry, indeed to hear of his death. He was truly a worthy member of the Long Grey Line. With every good wish, Most sincerely, Douglas Mac Arthur." Signatures have not been authenticated. Lot also includes silver mounted gavel, cigarette case, and pipe. Largest (Framed Letter) 1.75H x 8.75W x 1.0D in. Smallest (Douglas MacArthur Stamp) 1.5H x 1.5W in. All Measurements are Approximate.
