The present volume consists of 293 pages with a special title page, comprising 3 parts from Vol. VI of the quarto edition of "Explorations and Surveys for a Railroad Route from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean...1855" with a number of attractive tinted plates displaying various views of flora and fauna. We have observed another copy of this excerpt from Vol. VI that was inscribed by Newberry - apparently a small number were specially produced for Newberry's use.

Covers rubbed and worn, front detached, rear joint cracked; some toning and foxing within, a few stains, about very good.
