Offered here for your consideration are a large group of James Swinnerton sketches and ephemera, including sketches and production layouts for his cartoons. He was both an accomplished "pleine-aire" desert landscape painter, (who befriended and traveled with Bill Bender), and a newspaper cartoonist. Here is a framed, autographed sheet of one of his best known comic strips, "Little Jimmy". The colors in the print are bright and vibrant. Additionally there are a large number of rolls of working copies of his cartoons. Bid now and add this lot to your newspaper or cartoon paraphenalia collection or simply use it as bright and engaging decor for the home or office!
PROVENANCE: These items come from a storage unit in the Victorville, CA area believed to have belonged the famous Godshall family who, among other things, had the famous C-G guest ranch near Victorville. This info was based upon the contents from the locker. In time, the contents were sold at a public auction. Well-known artists Victor Clyde Forsythe, James Swinnerton, and Bill Bender were all associated with the C-G Ranch, as well as with each other, and there were numerous items from these artists, and the Godshall family in the locker.
MAKER: James Swinnerton (1875-1974).
APPROX AGE: Vintage (meaning somewhere between 1930s-1970s).
SIZE: The framed picture measures approximately 24 inches x 19 inches x 1 3/4 inches deep.
CONDITION: Average for their intended purpose and age, normal wear and minor imperfections expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
