First edition, copy number XV of 100 copies on Velin d'Arches paper, printed specially for Mr. Edmond Raoul-Duval, with a pamphlet from the "Société Sportive du Jeu De Paume" laid in. Publisher’s printed paper wrapper. 10 x 7 3/4 inches (26 x 20 cm);415 pp., frontspiece, plates, illustrations. Soiling and wear to wrapper mostly at spine, front hinge starting, contents with occasional pale spots, the laid-in pamphlet creased and spotted.
A rare deluxe copy of Albert De Luze's authoritative history of tennis' precursor, the Jeu de Paume. This is one of only one hundred copies from the subscriber's edition. It is printed on velin d"Arches paper, numbered in Roman numerals, and has the subscriber's name, Edmond Raoul-Duval, specially printed on the limitation page.
