Provenance:From an important Clapboard Ridge, Greenwich, CT estate.
A.H. Davenport & Co. were custom makers of furniture and fine cabinetry during the turn-of-the-century, manufacturing in Cambridge, MA and with retail showrooms in Boston and New York City. Davenport & Co. produced custom designs for the most prestigious designers and architects of the time. Most famously Davenport & Co. provided furnishings alongside Herter Brothers for several rooms in The White House - including constructing the Theodore Roosevelt Desk, as designed by Beaux Arts architect Charles Follen McKim.
