An Officer's Special Pattern Sword Of The Warwickshire Rifle Volunteers Mid-19th Century With curved blade double edged towards the point (some old wear and light rust patination), etched along one side with indistinct maker's details, owner's initials in gothic letters, and crowned 'VR' cypher within a cartouche, a slung bugle horn suspended on a ribbon beneath, and all between scrolling foliage, the other side etched en suite, the cartouche inscribed 'WARWICKSHIRE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS', steel hilt pierced and chased with foliage and crowned 'VR' cypher, a scroll above engraved in capitals 'WARWICKSHIRE', a slung bugle horn beneath suspended from branches of oak, and two-piece chequered horn grip bound with copper wire in original steel scabbard (pitted overall) with white-metal throat-mount and two rings for suspension 82 cm. blade For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
