Description
An antique oil painting on canvas by English artist Clara Montalba. Circa the late 19th century. The painting depicts a scene with a smartly dressed dancing couple, a man and woman in the foreground, and musicians in the background. Signed lower right. Attached to the back is a note with descriptive information about the artist. Housed in a gilt carved frame. Clara Montalba, 1842 to 1929, English painter and feminist. Was a regular contributor to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition during the 1870s. She attained international recognition following exhibitions in Europe and America. Clara Montalba exhibited her work at the Palace of Fine Arts and The Woman Building at the 1893 World Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. Collectible Antique Fine Art, English Painting.
