Description
Leonard Viktorovich Turzhansky (Russian, 1875 - 1945), double-sided oil painting on canvas, 1939. The main side depicts a horse in a sunny rural landscape. Signed by the artist and dated lower left. The verso side shows a still life with a book and a flower. Bears a red ink stamp on the stretcher. Housed in an original period wooden frame. Note: Leonard Viktorovich Turzhansky was a Russian impressionist painter. Among his teachers were such famous artists as Alexei Stepanov, V. A. Serov and K. A. Korovin. His works are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery.
