Inscription: Lower middle inscribed by the artist's hand: "Ruines de Zaatche". Lower right dated: "20351".


Date: 1851


Description: The sheet shows a town under palm trees with buildings and lots of masonry. The expressive stroke creates a lively, dynamic composition. The oasis town of Zaatcha was destroyed by French troops in Algeria in 1849.
