Item Details
Description
This is a rare Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad milk can. Cast brass tag shows it was shipped from the Fred W Raile farm in St. Francis, KS, to the Blue Valley Creamery in Hastings, NE by the CBQ, and then returned to the farmer via the railroad. What is interesting is that at one point in its life, this can had TWO identical brass tags, and we have never seen a can with two! Examining the side opposite the existing tag shows impressions of the tag that still remain on the can, with verifiable letters showing the duplicate tag that can easily be seen clearly with a magnifying glass. CBQ milk cans are almost impossible to find, and this one is most certainly a one-of-a-kind! Also stamped with STURGES & BURN MFG CO CHICAGO.
