A rare, probably Byzantine dagger with a relief-cut bone handle, 12th/13thC, total L 36 cm
Gilt details on the blade. The bone handle richly sculpted with decorations and figures of a man and woman on either side, perhaps a Byzantine ruler and his wife.
Comes with a certificate of radiocarbon dating (sample from the bone: estimate 1160-1290 AD)
