An antique Japanese vase from the early Meiji period, decorated with enamel using the cloisonne technique. The wide vase with a narrow neck and a complex, varied pattern. At the base and around the neck it has a rhythmic decoration of alternating light brown and dark brown patterns with black and white feathers. On one side of the vase there is a seascape with rocks and pine trees. The other side depicts a winter coastal landscape in soft pastel colors. The entire surface of the vase is decorated with swirls and butterflies. Unmarked. Meiji era, 1868 to 1912, reign of Emperor Mutsuhito.
