Chinese Export Porcelain Rose Mandarin Tureen. An oval two-handled soup tureen cover and stand, painted in polychrome enamels with gilt rims enclosing finely-painted and vividly colored scenes of figures in garden pavilions. The knop to tureen cover of gilt ovoidal pineapple molded shape, issuing petals, over low relief petals. The body with gilt entwined vine handles issuing leaves and berry clusters to sides. Tureen body and stand or underplate of conforming shape. Circa 1840. {Approximate dimensions: The platter 1 3/4" H. x 16" W. x 13" D. The tureen: 11 3/8" H. x 14" W. including handles x 9 1/2" W.}. Condition: Very good condition overall. Typical light wear to gilding, and surface wear and light scratches to enamels. The gilding wear to handles more notable.
