Handles probably applied later. Interior lined with pale green silk moire brocade._x000B_ L.h, in Gothic script, made out of nailheads, probably circa 1900. English. Circa 1850 and later. {Approximate dimensions: 13" H. x 25" W. x 17 1/4 D. Provenance: Formerly in the Collections of Lady Hay, Jane Loftus, Marchioness of Ely (1821-1890). Lady Hay was a lady of Queen Victoria's bedchamber and a confidante of the Queen for decades. As sold at auction in London, circa 1900; and later, at Butterfield's in the mid 1950s. In one Bay Area family since 1955. _x000B_ Condition: Overall condition is very good and attractive. 3/4" loss to one section of inlay to top, lower left corner. Loss to veneer, base right corner. Stain to interior fabric.
