Description: The book "De rebus nuper in Italia gestis," written by Galeazzo Flavio Capella in October of 1487. Published: 1532 by Johannes Petreius in Nürnberg 5 1/2 by 7 1/3" (182 x 130 mm) in size 75, [1] lvs. Armorial bearings on the first page Contemporary endpapers, a modern half-parchment binding with corners, and a manuscript title on the spine. In excellent condition. Rare second edition (the first printed in Germany) of the widely read and translated history of the so-called Milan War, which resulted in Francesco Sforza II's banishment from Milan and subsequent reinstatement. Italian statesman and writer Capella (1487–1537) served as the Duke's secretary and as a minister for a while; he reports here as a close observer of the circumstances and historical context.
