Description: Wallius and Hosschius [Poemata]. ELEGIARUM LIBRI SES Hertz, J.J., Venice, 1696. Two sections in a single volume 317 pages, 6 3/4 in., size 4. original binding on vellum. Seen in the photographs is worn binding with minor edge damage. excellent interior quality Latin text. A Flemish poet and Jesuit priest, Sidronius Hosschius (a latinized variant of Syderoen de Ho(o)sch), was also known as Sidronius de Hossche or Sidron de Hossche (1596–1653). Because of his exquisite Latin poetry, he was highly regarded by his contemporaries, and throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, his writings were repeatedly reprinted.
