First issue, with the long "s'' throughout. 8vo. xvi 256 pp. Recent 1/2 calf with marbled boards, raised bands, gilt, sprinkled edges, marbled endpapers, engraved frontispiece, engraved title page with engraved vignette, illustrated on 34 leaves each with a pair of B/W engraved plates of which 12 are images by Blake. Ray, England 1; Essick, William Blake's Commercial Book Illustrations, XXVI. Ray 7. Lowndes 17. The illustrations are copies of the 1793 Stockdale edition, re-engraved in an oval form. Cf.
