A two-piece red velvet embellished ensemble, owned by James Brown, c. 1960s.
The ensemble includes a deep red velvet tunic with a mockneck bedazzled with rows of simulated diamonds as well as various swirled simualted diamond details, with a zipper front; and a matching cape attachment with a red satin interior lining. No sizes or labels present.
Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from the wife of the late Irwin Pate, James Brown's booking and promotional manager in the 1960s, who said that the outfit was worn on stage by Brown on an unknown date, and then given to Pate.
