A 1950s Hopf Special electric guitar in natural finish. Owned and played by Randy Bachman, who has sold 40 million records worldwide as a member of The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and as a solo artist. Part of Randy’s impressive collection of 1940s-1960s German archtop guitars collected over a period of 30-plus years.

Mother of pearl Hopf Special inlay on the face of the headstock, bound, with plastic-button tuners. White nut with zero fret. Laminated maple neck with a 22 fret ebony fretboard, bound, with parallelogram inlays save for a diamond marker at the 12th fret. Spruce top, binding of faux tortoise shell and white “dots” and oddly-shaped sound holes. Flamed maple back, ebony bridge, Original Hopf tailpiece, two pickups, two volume and tone controls for each pickup, and a rotary selector switch on the upper bass side bout. Plastic shell guard.

The guitar is not currently playable due to a large, open crack through the neck heel.
