A sequined mini romper, stage-worn by Kate Pierson with The B-52's during the "Cosmic Thing" and "Good Stuff" tours, as well as during a 1990 appearance on Saturday Night Live (NBC Studios, 1975).

The custom-designed costume for Kate Pierson was by Venezuelan designer Frederico Maquache. The one-piece romper is composed of red cotton, sheer beige polyester nylon, and embellished with gold bugle and seed beads, along with attention-grabbing gold and red sequins/paillettes. The romper is designed to be body-hugging, there is a built-in bra to enhance the shape of the bust, making the garment nostalgic of '60s mod and the space age. There is decorative fringe throughout, the red and gold dazzle, adding to the fiery persona Pierson has on stage. The beaded fringe with paillettes are all done by hand and tied off. The romper also features a sheer inverted triangle cut-out at the midriff. The romper closes with a zip at the center back and clasp at the back of the bra, along with a single hook-and-eye at the back of the neck.

The costume is in good condition, slight color fade, moderate wear at the underarms with holes and pilling. The beading and sequins are still intact, there are noticeable scratches and indentations from performance use, but well preserved.

Pierson wore the costume while performing with The B-52's on the April 21, 1990 episode of Saturday Night Live alongside guest host Alec Baldwin, and performed the songs "Cosmic Thing" and "Channel Z" off of the album Cosmic Thing. Pierson said in an interview with Yahoo News/Style (2015), “I was doing space girl outfits way before Katy Perry or Gaga! When I was little, I used to think, ‘That’s the way people in the future are gonna dress! They’ll be wearing space suits, and it will be all silver, all the time, it’s gonna glitter.'"

The "Cosmic Thing" tour followed the release of The B-52's fifth studio album of the same name, released in 1989 by Reprise Records, and took place from 1989-1990. The 1992 "Good Stuff" tour followed the release of the band's sixth studio album of the same name, released in 1992 by Reprise Records.

Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity signed by Pierson, four magazine pages, three of which feature Pierson in the romper, and a newspaper clipping.
