Each decorated with a guilloche border and engraved with the Royal arms of King William IV and Queen Adelaide of Great Britain to the inner border. Each engraved underside with weights and numbered. Diameter 9 1/2 inches (23.5 cm), total approximately 209 ounces.

A set of plates engraved with the same arms sold Sotheby's New York, April 6, 1989, lot 31. It was noted then that the service may have been purchased by the King himself or possibly given as a gift from Queen Adelaide's family, the Dukes of Saxe-Meiningen.
