Each shield-shaped backplate with lion's head issuing three scrolling branches.
Height 12 in (30.4 cm), width 11 (27.9 cm), depth 7 in (17.7 cm)
The present wall lights are after a design by Lucien-François Feuchère (active 1780-1828); see Hans Ottomeyer, Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen. Die Bronzearbeiten des Spätbarocks und Klassizismus, Munich,1986, vol. II, p. 668, fig. 2. A related pair was sold, Artcurial, Paris, December 13, 2023, lot 95.
Condition
