Royal Interest, a pair of porcelain profile portrait plaques in high relief, George V, King of Hanover, 1878 and Christian VII, King of Denmark, 1769, both with gilt titled and presentation plaques, 'Given to the Sub-Dean of the Chapels Royal & Mrs Edgar Sheppard by The Prince and Princess of Wales, April 28th 1903', in glazed box frames surmounted with gilt coronets, 35 by 29cm (2). Note: James Edgar, known later in life as Canon Edgar Sheppard (1845-1921), was a doctor of divinity who became Sub-Dean of the Chapels Royal and Chaplain to Queen Victoria, Edward VII, and George V. He lived at St James's Palace and in the cloisters at Windsor Castle. For his services to the three monarchs he was appointed a Knight Commander of the Victorian Order in 1914 by King George V. He died at Windsor. Provenance: inherited by the current vendor.
