Description
An antique Northwest Africa, probably Mali, Fulani or Tuareg people Silver ring. The ring is comprised of decorative ribs of alternating sizes and a flattened face on one side with a double linear criss cross pattern. Formed via the lost wax process, this ring was made from melted down silver coins, usually silver bullion coins that came to be used as currency in parts of Africa. This may have been worn as a pendant, earring, or hair decoration by Fulani or Tuareg women. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century.
