Johnny Cash (1932-2003) was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is considered one of the most important figures in country music history and was known for his distinctive deep voice, rebellious image, and storytelling ability in his music.Cash grew up in Arkansas and began his music career in the mid-1950s with his band, The Tennessee Two. He signed with Sun Records and had his first hit, "Cry! Cry! Cry!", in 1955. He went on to record numerous classic country songs, including "I Walk the Line," "Ring of Fire," and "Folsom Prison Blues," among others.In addition to his music career, Cash was known for his activism, including his support for Native American rights, prison reform, and anti-war efforts. He was also a frequent collaborator with other musicians, including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings.Cash continued to record and perform throughout his life, and he was inducted into multiple music halls of fame, including the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 71.
