Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Famille Rose Vertical Porcelain Brush Pot. Potted in cylindrical body, thick, gently tapered to straight close round mouth rim, with deep concave to input the moabi brush, raised with short round foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against famille rose design color, depicted of salubrious landscape with sampan boat sailing over peace lishui river surround with dense tree, flowers bloom, rocky rock mountain waterfall with dew and sky clouds. Many mountains in China are sacred, represent the yang element in the landscape and as such connect to the governing yang element in China the Emperor. Mountain is one of the eight trigrams in Feng Shui and Yi Jing. Of these Taishan is considered the most important and stones from the mountain were often placed in towns across China as a lucky charm. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a four under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
