Description
A Moche Seated Dignitary Stirrup Spout Vessel Peru, Early Intermediate Period - Middle Horizon, c. 200-900 AD Hollow blackware, mold-made with hand worked details, finely burnished to a reflective surface. Most likely a portrait, a mushroom-shaped coiffure, parted and striated, falling down the back. The face has distinctive linear scarifications on the cheeks and sides of mouth, and a wave pattern over most of the forehead. He sits cross-legged with hands on knees. In very good, mostly intact condition, a visible repair to the side and toe of his proper right foot.
