Sid Tolson (NC, 1894-1977), Pintail
Ocracoke, North Carolina, circa 1930, carved and painted wood, iron spike ballast.
Length 17.5 in.
Tolson was born and raised on Ocracoke Island and married Cecilia Williams (1896-1978). They had one son named Sonny. Sid and Sonny carved several stand of decoys together. Sid took out hunting parties for many years specializing in hunting out of lay down floating blinds in shallow shoals. Pintails were a favored species.
