Description
Found in a velvet lined worn leather jewelry case with a silver plate plaque at top which is unengraved, an important watch fob made entirely of gold natural form nuggets held together with round link chains. Included in the case was a most unusual 14K gold closed case pocket watch engraved with mountainous scenes, tents a canoe etc. which is identified in a note inside to be El Dorado City. ...now Mountain Ranch 8 miles East of San Andreas. It should be noted there was no El Dorado City after 1868 and there was a large gold discovery there about 1849. A second 14K gold closed case watch was in the case. The face is marked E. D. Johnson, London Three items in the lot, four if one counts the case in which the items were found
