Very rare assembled collection of clipped signatures of the signers of The Declaration of Independence. Mounted on a piece of 16" x 20" cardboard in the 19th century. Provenance: Found in an untouched North Shore estate. Condition: In as found condition. Two faded out and not visible signatures, Thomas Heyward Jr, and Caesar Rodney. Some in poor condition: Carter Braxton, Benjamin Rush, Phillip Livingston and William Whipple. Much staining and some old insect damage. AUTHENTICATION: PLEASE READ BELOW IN CONDITION REPORT

Good unless otherwise noted in description. ATTENTION: THIS FRESH DISCOVERY IS SOLD AS FOUND FROM A LOCAL UNTOUCHED ESTATE. TO OUR EYES IT APPEARS VERY GOOD. WE HAVE KEPT OUR ESTIMATES CONSERVATIVE ON THIS LOT AS WE DO NOT PRESUME TO BE AN AUTHORITY OF THESE SIGNATURES. Authenticity: The Buyer of Lot. 28 “Rare/Important Declaration of Independence Signatures” listed in our February 22, 2014 Auction at the Buyer’s own discretion and expense may have prior to completion of the transaction a period of not more than thirty (30) days following payment of the full purchase price (within our auction terms) to the auctioneer (to be held in escrow), have this lot examined and verified for authenticity of age. The Auctioneer and Seller will only accept a written rendered opinion of authenticity by a not for profit Institution or Museum specializing in or with a focus on Historic documents and signatures. The Auctioneer and Seller will not accept a letter voicing an opinion from a person or corporation in the business of buying and selling historic documents and signatures for profit. If the decision of the qualified expert on this lot is that the signatures are not of the 18th/19th century, and with acceptable written evidence of such decision, together with the lot in the same condition as it was when released for authentication, are presented to the auctioneer within the required time, the Buyer's purchase price shall be refunded.
