Description
DESCRIPTION: Folk art diorama portraying the Boston Tea Party. Painted wood assembled in a three dimensional format and housed in a custom wood box with liner giving information on the event. Early 20th century. PROVENANCE: Made by the consignor's grandfather William G. Hilton Senior. His wife Catherine Kelker Hilton was a descendent of the well-known Kelker family of Harrisburg and the granddaughter of Frederick Kelker (1780-1857) who started the family hardware business in Harrisburg in 1805. MEASUREMENTS: 26" x 18" x 6". CONDITION: Edge toning to informational card. Exterior of box with wear and hinges broken.
