Hendrick Goltzius (Dutch, 1558-1617) Four Engravings. Comprising the martyrdoms of St. Andrew, Paul, and Mathias, and the Crucifixion Each Sheet: 8.25" x 11.25"

Only one of these engravings has a watermark (plate 11) that is visible. It looks like an orb surmounted by a cross. The printing partly obscures it. These engravings are on a thin laid paper and most likely date to around 1600. They are all in need of cleaning. Plate 1: has small margins, brown paper tape around the edges en verso, an old centerfold, light foxing, and a few small brown stains. Plate 2: has narrow margins, brown paper tape on the top and bottom en verso, an old centerfold, light foxing, a brown stain at right, small stains on the leg of the kneeling man and St. Andrew's halo. Plate 11: is trimmed into the platemark, has brown paper tape around the edges en verso, an old centerfold, a few small brown stains, repairs to both lower corners, and damage in the lettering at the center of the lower edge. Plate 12: has narrow margins, brown paper tape at the top and bottom edges en verso, light foxing, and a small brown stain at the left of center on the ground.
