Books- Le Page Du Pratz, Antoine Simon (1695-1775), "Histoire de la Louisiane Contenant la Decouverte de ce vaste pays," Paris: Bure, Delaguette and Lambert, 1758, in 3 volumes, with fine folding engraved map in volume one:"Louisiane. Golfe du Mexique", and a folding plan of "Nouveau Orleans..." in volume II., and several engraved plates, with contemporary French mottled calf covers, with smooth gilt decorated spines, H.- 6 1/2 in., W.- 4 in.

As found. The applied library/ownership plates are now lost. On three of the tomes is handwritten in blue ink pen illegibly- possibly "William L. Cromett" The second tome is marked "Mary O'Kelly Monroe, LA" on a free end paper. The braided chord binding ends are mostly present but attached only partially on the second tome at the headcap, the rest are partially present or unobserved. The binding chords remain sewn through the hinges and front and back boards, however; the spines are cracked at the hinge joints completely at the fronts and partially at the back hinge joints. The red painted fore edges are faded inconsistently. There are some heavy losses to the spine and raised bands on the first two tomes. The tail, headcaps, corners and edges are all worn. The covers with losses and abrasions to the leather. Some foxing spots are noted throughout the pages of all the books. There is evidence of deterioration of the composition of the original binding agent resulting in areas of darkened "stains" surrounding the adjacent page edges. Some folds are observed to the interior pages. An impressive historic collection. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD "AS IS."
