DESCRIPTION: Five Native American ceremonial objects. Includes: 1) Pueblo turtle shell and deer toe rattle. From the Col. Santor C. Lewis Collection donated to the Franklin Public Library. 4-1/4" x 3-1/2". Cataloging number on underside of shell. Minor wear to surface including toning and cracking throughout. 2) Three-lobed object with US copper buttons and claw. 6" long. Apparent toning and wear throughout. 3) Plains tribe leather and deer toe dance rattle with fringe and black and white beading. Tied in half. 46" long x 3-1/2" thick. Apparent wear to leather and bones consistent with age and use. 4) Sioux tribe deer toe rattle. Leather covered wand with fringe, fur, and deer toe bones. 21" long. Minor wear to surface including toning and cracking consistent with age and use. 5) Beaded turtle effigy with tinkling cones, leather and faux feathers. 31" long x 2-1/2" wide.
